Ever wonder how some of your neighbors live? What is it like living in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem? On Saturday, April 12th Piedmont Craftsmen will be conducting its fourth Lofty Ideas Tour of downtown living spaces with both daytime and evening schedules. From 11 AM until 4 PM, tour participants can take the Day Dream Tour visiting residences in and around downtown. Among the homes open for the public are residences in Piedmont Leaf Lofts, Tar Branch Towers, Traders Row and the West End Village along with others. Each residence on the tour is an occupied (lived-in) space decorated in the owners unique and creative style. The Starry Night Tour of the same downtown residences runs from 5:30 PM until 8 PM but also includes a closing reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
As evidenced by the profusion of ‘reality home shows’ on the major network and cable stations, it seems Americans have an infinite curiosity about how other people live. Here in Winston-Salem there is no shortage of interest in the burgeoning downtown living spaces. With new and rehab construction sprouting up on many corners of central Winston-Salem, young and established professionals and ‘empty nesters’ are flocking to the many urban living options now available in a wide variety of price ranges and styles. From townhouses to condos to urban loft environments the range of styles, adaptive reuses and creative living solutions present exciting housing alternatives for locals on the lookout for low maintenance homes.
The Lofty Idea Tours has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated fundraising events for Piedmont Craftsmen. Tickets and the tour map are available beginning March 1st at Piedmont Craftsmen at 601 North Trade Street.
